EverGreen

Imagine a world without mammals, birds, or insects. A world where nothing much moves. A world long forgotten. The ‘EverGreen’ series of photographs depicts a fictional landscape that might have once existed, created only with 3D objects reconstituted from fossils of extinct plants and animals. The Oxford University Museum of Natural History produced many of these objects. Researchers used an X-ray scanning technique to reveal the secrets locked inside these tiny fossils and to build three-dimensional models of the specimens. Few clues remain to understand how these early animals and plants behaved and their body layout. It’s a jigsaw with more pieces lost than found.

La série de photographies EverGreen dépeint un paysage fictif créé uniquement avec des objets en 3D reconstitués à partir de fossiles de plantes et d’animaux disparus. Le musée d’histoire naturelle de l’université d’Oxford a produit un grand nombre de ces objets. À partir des fossiles les chercheurs ont reconstituées des modèles tridimensionnels de ces animaux et plantes éteints.  Aujourd’hui il ne reste que peu d’indices pour comprendre le comportement de ces premiers animaux et plantes. C’est un puzzle dont il y a plus de pièces perdues que de pièces trouvées.
